Biography

Mrs. Jane Menzies Bennett

Mrs. Jane Menzies Bennett is an Executive Leader and Trained Educator. She holds a Master of Science degree in Adult Education & Human Resource Development from Fordham University in New York, USA and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Sciences from St. Peter’s College in New Jersey, USA.

Mrs. Bennett commenced her career as an Adjunct Professor first with Bloomfield College, Bloomfield, New Jersey, USA where she facilitated a course in Pathways for Adult Learning.

She continued her teaching journey with The University of the West Indies (UWI) in Belize as a Face-to-Face Tutor and eTutor for the UWI Cave Hill, School of Business, Barbados. She taught courses in Organizational Behaviour and Human Resources Management for the Executive Diploma in Management Programme.

Mrs. Bennett then held the position of Head, UWI Open Campus (UWIOC), Belize for twelve (12) years. During her tenure with the UWIOC, she also performed the roles of eTutor for History and Philosophy of Adult Education in the UWIOC Masters Programme in Adult and Continuing Education (MACE). She was also Training Facilitator for Continuing and Professional Education in various areas of Human Resources Management; this was done on both the regional and local levels.

The role of Liaison Officer was also undertaken with the State University of New York (SUNY) and the University of the West Indies (UWI) Center for Leadership and Sustainable Development (CLSD). During this special assignment, she contributed to the successful launch of the Graduate Certificate in Leadership for Sustainable Development

She is also the Founder & Chair, Board of Directors for Eglah’s Training Center for Women (& Families), a Non-Profit Organization located on the Southside of Belize City, Belize that has been providing literacy and life skills training at the community level since 2005.

She has published a Book of Poetry & Prose; written and presented an academic paper on Sustainable Development which was published in the Caribbean Quarterly; published Articles on the Roles of the Family for the Reporter Newspaper in Belize and developed manuals and other training materials for Continuing and Professional Education.

Jane has performed other Leadership roles including Girl Guide Leader; First President of the St. Catherine Academy Alumni Association, New York Chapter, USA. She was also the Co- Coordinator for an Urban Garden Initiative for food sovereignty (her brain child) in Port Loyola, Southside of Belize City, Belize.
